Gay Wedding Photography FAQ’s.
There are more comprehensive FAQ’s on my Photography FAQ’s page…
Q. WHEN CAN WE BOOK OUR GAY WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHY WITH YOU?
A. Two years ago, the law changed regarding gay wedding ceremonies and from March 29th 2014, gay weddings became legal in the UK. Thankfully I can now take gay wedding photography bookings. So please get in touch to discuss.
Q. LESBIAN AND GAY WEDDINGS ARE NEW TO THE UK. ARE THE TRADITIONS THE SAME AS WITH A HETEROSEXUAL WEDDING?
A. Gay wedding traditions are as similar as you want them to be. Obviously some of the traditions are gender specific. Therefore traditions such as one of the couple walking down the aisle to meet the other at the altar may not be appropriate. If not, the couple may walk down the aisle together or sometimes two aisles may be organised. Similarly no-one will expect a male to toss a garter (unless he wants to and has a garter handy!) I think it’s important to organise the day as you want it and not worry too much about what’s gone before. Gay weddings are very much uncharted territory in this country.
Q. WE WERE THINKING OF HAVING AN ENGAGEMENT PHOTOGRAPHY SESSION. CAN YOU PROVIDE THIS?
A. Yes I’d love to. I have a whole page dedicated to engagement photography. All the information applies to booking a photographer for your wedding too. Engagement shoots are a great way for us to get acquainted and for you to feel comfortable in front of the camera. I can also provide a guest book featuring the best of your engagement photos for your guests to write in. This provides a unique keepsake of your day.
Q. WHICH AREAS DO YOU COVER? CAN YOU TRAVEL FAR?
A. I work mainly within the Greater London and home counties areas. However if you are having your LGBT wedding further afield, by all means get in touch to discuss.
Q. HOW LONG CAN WE BOOK YOU FOR ON THE DAY? WHAT ARE YOUR PRICES?
A. Basically for as little or as long as you like. Just as with my other weddings, you can book me from the morning preparations right through to the evening and first dance and beyond. Contact me by one of the methods below and I can help you work out how much time you think you’ll need. You can always change this later.

After looking at various photographers’ work on the internet we decided that we really liked the look of Guy’s style of photography. We contacted him and kept in touch by email and on the phone, and at his suggestion met up a month or so before the ceremony so that we could discuss the kind of things we wanted/didn’t want, and Guy couldn’t have been more helpful throughout the whole process. On the day itself everyone commented how friendly he was, and patient too, on what turned out to be a scorching hot day to say the least! We also ordered the photo book and we stayed in touch to sort out the photos that were to go in it and how it should look, again Guy couldn’t have been more helpful: the end result is we now have a fantastic set of colour and black and white photos, a photo book and a slideshow to remind us of what a great day it was. We wouldn’t hesitate to recommend him to anyone looking for a professional photographer. Thanks Guy, we really appreciate all the hard work you put in!

Q. ARE WE ABLE TO MEET WITH YOU BEFORE BOOKING?
A. Yes and as your potential photographer I think it’s very important for us to meet first. Whether we click with each other or not is equally as important as if you like my photography. So to be able to talk through your day and swap ideas in a mutual environment such as a coffee shop is a very good idea. We can also meet at the venue if you prefer that.

Q. AND IF WE WANT TO BOOK YOU, WHEN IS OUR BOOKING SECURED?
A. The booking is made on receipt of a 20% deposit of the agreed fee and signature of the contract. Then the date is in my diary and I will take no other work on that day. I like everything to be as simple as possible for you, so in the month before your wedding day, I’ll send through a questionnaire for you to fill in all the finer details and return to me.
Q. HOW WILL YOU EDIT OUR PHOTOGRAPHS? CAN WE CHOOSE?
A. I’ll process your wedding photographs in a mixture of colour and black and white as I think suits. There are numerous examples of my photographic style throughout my site so have a good look through. If there’s a style you really like or one that you’re not very keen on, please feel free to tell me. I welcome all feedback.
Q. DO YOU PROVIDE ANY PRINTED MEDIA OF OUR WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHY?
A. An item that proves popular with couples is the Wedding Coffee Table Book. This is a 100 page hard-back professionally press-printed book featuring the best of your wedding photography. When we meet prior to your booking me, I’ll bring a sample book for you to see. Your images come with a license to print and distribute for personal use but if required, I can also upload your images to my photo lab site for your friends and family to order from directly.
