Gay Wedding Photography, Cardiff FAQ’s.
**Please note that I take same-sex weddings throughout the UK**
There are more comprehensive FAQ’s on my Cardiff/Photography FAQ’s page…
Q. WHEN CAN WE BOOK OUR GAY WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHY WITH YOU?
A. It’s nearly 4 years ago that the law changed regarding gay wedding ceremonies. From March 29th 2014, gay or LGBT/LGBTQ weddings became legal in the UK. Thankfully I am able to freely take gay wedding photography bookings in Cardiff and Bristol and throughout the UK. So please get in touch to discuss.
Q. LESBIAN AND GAY WEDDINGS ARE NEW TO THE UK. ARE THE TRADITIONS THE SAME AS WITH A HETEROSEXUAL WEDDING?
A. Gay wedding traditions are as similar as you want them to be. Obviously some of the traditions are gender specific. Therefore traditions such as one of the couple walking down the aisle to meet the other at the altar may not be appropriate. Of course, if you wanted to do this, that’s fine. Otherwise, the couple may walk down the aisle together or sometimes two aisles may be organised. Similarly no-one will expect a male to toss a garter (unless he wants to and has a garter handy!) I think it’s important to organise the day as you want it and not worry too much about what’s gone before. Gay weddings are still very much uncharted territory in Wales and the rest of the UK.
Q. WE WERE THINKING OF HAVING AN ENGAGEMENT PHOTOGRAPHY SESSION. CAN YOU PROVIDE THIS?
A. Yes I’d love to. I have a whole page dedicated to engagement photography. All the information applies to booking a photographer for your wedding too. Engagement shoots are a great way for us to get acquainted and for you to feel comfortable in front of the camera. The cities of Cardiff, Bristol and London provide a wealth of opportunity and backdrops for your pre-wedding shoot. I can also provide a guest book featuring the best of your engagement photos for your guests to write in. This provides a unique keepsake of your day.
Q. WHICH AREAS DO YOU COVER APART FROM CARDIFF? CAN YOU TRAVEL FAR?
A. I work mainly within the Cardiff and South Wales area and also Bristol. I also regularly get into London so can also cover London and the home counties too. However if you are having your LGBT wedding further afield, by all means get in touch to discuss.
Q. HOW LONG CAN WE BOOK YOU FOR ON THE DAY? WHAT ARE YOUR PRICES?
A. Basically you can book me for as little or as long as you like. Just as with my other weddings, you can book me from the morning preparations right through to the evening and first dance and beyond. Contact me by one of the methods below and I can help you work out how much time you think you’ll need. You can always change this later.

Delighted with the Results…
We found Guy’s portfolio on the Internet and, despite the short notice, he made himself available to cover our wedding at Islington Town Hall and a reception in Crouch End. We were delighted with the results. We didn’t want too many formal shots, but instead we wanted – and we found – someone who could capture the spirit of the moment and leave us with images that we will treasure for a very long time. Guy worked in an extremely discrete way, and took great pains to ensure that he caught great shots of all of our guests. We have no hesitation in recommending him to people who aren’t quite sure precisely what they want, but are happy to leave a professional photographer to record the day as he sees fit.

Q. ARE WE ABLE TO MEET WITH YOU BEFORE BOOKING?
A. Yes and as your potential photographer I think it's very important for us to meet first. Whether we click with each other or not is equally as important as if you like my photography. So to be able to talk through your day and swap ideas in a mutual environment such as a coffee shop is a very good idea. We can also meet at the venue if you prefer that.
Same-Sex Wedding Photography Bookings
Q. AND IF WE WANT TO BOOK YOU, WHEN IS OUR BOOKING SECURED?
A. The booking is made on receipt of a 20% deposit of the agreed fee and signature of the contract. Then the date is in my diary and I will take no other work on that day. I like everything to be as simple as possible for you, so I'll send through a questionnaire for you to fill in to include all the finer details and return to me.
Q. HOW WILL YOU EDIT OUR PHOTOGRAPHS? CAN WE CHOOSE?
A. I'll process your LGBT wedding photographs in a mixture of colour and black and white as I think suits. There are numerous examples of my photographic style throughout my site so have a good look through. If there's a style you really like or one that you're not very keen on, please feel free to tell me. I welcome all feedback.
Q. DO YOU PROVIDE ANY PRINTED MEDIA OF OUR WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHY?
A. An item that proves popular with couples is the Wedding Coffee Table Book. This is a 100 page hard-back professionally press-printed book featuring the best of your wedding photography. When we meet prior to your booking me, I'll bring a sample book for you to see. Your images come with a license to print and distribute for personal use but if required, I can also upload your images to my photo lab site for your friends and family to order from directly.
