Chiswick Town Hall Wedding Photography: Venue in Hounslow, London W4
The Main Hall has a long aisle perfect for the Bride (& in this case the Groom) to make a grand entrance.
The beautiful former Chiswick Town Hall is a Grade II listed gem of a building located just opposite Turnham Green in the London Borough of Hounslow. No longer used as a town hall, it boasts several function rooms. The building has a license as a wedding venue for civil marriage ceremonies.
I have photographed two weddings there, but I anticipate others in the not-too-distant future.
Built in 1876, Chiswick Town Hall was extended several times before opening as a Town Hall in 1901. Chiswick Urban District Council took control in 1896.
The detail on the ornate panelling is shown well in this portrait of the exchange of rings.
Chiswick Town Hall as a Wedding Photography Venue
The venue has four rooms varying in size to accommodate 25 to 200 wedding guests and is perfect for gay wedding couples (LGBT+) and civil partnerships. The Hounslow Registrars appear very relaxed and helpful about wedding photography. They even allow photographing the register signing, which many do not.
After the happy couple’s ceremony, a champagne reception is held to mix and be congratulated by their guests. The rooms are available for booking the wedding breakfast. Alternatively, one of the numerous local venues is ideal.
Chiswick Town Hall has excellent transport links, conveniently located near Turnham Green, Gunnersbury, and Chiswick Park stations on the Underground’s District Line.

A shot of the newlyweds’ first kiss is crucial. The muted tones in the Main Hall mean that the photos often work better in black and white, as this portrait shows.
Chiswick Town Hall Wedding Venue Rooms
Main Hall:
The capacity is up to 200, and it is the largest wedding ceremony room, seating 160 guests for a banquet meal.
Hogarth Hall:
Comfortably seats up to 90 guests for mid-size weddings.
Council Chamber:
Holding 40 wedding guests – perfect for semi-small wedding parties.
Committee Room:
Seating for just 25. This room is great for intimate wedding ceremonies.
I love natural, happy shots of the wedding couple. Here, their joy is all too apparent as they have just become husband and wife.
Current Chiswick Town Hall Management
The former town hall is not council-run at all; its management is outsourced to Everyone Events, a registered charity.
A very community-focused organisation, it regularly puts on events specifically aimed at appealing to local people. They aim to retain their centres’ heritage and respect that people may have been using particular venues for many years and will have fond memories of times spent there.
