Cardiff’s City Hall is a fantastic venue for your wedding ceremony. The ornate portico at the front is an excellent backdrop for the confetti shots too!
Wedding Photography in Cardiff – For Cosmopolitan Marriages
For an engaged couple wishing for a cosmopolitan feeling for their marriage, Wales’ capital city, Cardiff is one of the best destinations.
The city landscape is marked by numerous stunning buildings that are beautiful both inside and out – ideal for your wedding photography. A great example of this is Cardiff’s popular civil marriage venue the City Hall which houses the Register Office (see photo above and link at the top).
The natural green scenery makes it one of the most beautiful cities in the UK. Nature-loving couples can select the city of Cardiff for the backdrop to their special day and enjoy outdoor ceremonies and beautiful green landscapes in their finished photographs. Couples wishing for summer nuptials will love the relaxed atmosphere and peaceful nature of the city.

Castell Coch is a splendid location for your small wedding ceremony. You can move on from there to a larger reception so that your wider circle of friends can celebrate with you.
The City of Cardiff: The Perfect Location for Wedding Photography
Cardiff is lucky enough to benefit from strong transport links into the city from all over. The Welsh capital city is now just 2 hours from London Paddington via Bristol by train on the Great Western Railway service, and there is also a direct train to Manchester.
The M4 also runs from London to Swansea and passes just north of the city making access for your wedding guests so easy. There are three park and ride sites around the city with good bus services.

The beautifully rustic Pencoed House Estate near Cardiff is another example of the area’s fine venues.
Short and Full Day Weddings in the Welsh Capital
Whether you require a venue for a full day’s wedding, or just for an hour for your ceremony, there is the perfect venue for you. Many venues will only do the civil marriage ceremony, and from there, you can go elsewhere for a sit-down meal with close family and friends.
Cardiff has numerous quality restaurants, pubs and hotels just right for, however you wish to celebrate your marriage.
I love to photograph short wedding days in Cardiff, and my coverage can start at just 1 hour. 2 hours is more usual to get some before and after shots and the early reception. I have a full page about reduced hours wedding coverage.

The entrance hall at City Hall can be busy with people coming and going. Fortunately, it was quiet enough to be able to take this smiley portrait of bride Dania.

The same doorway, but in black and white, it has a whole new feel. I give many of my Cardiff wedding photos the monochrome treatment.
Wedding Venues and Suppliers in Cardiff to Make Your Day Truly Special
As well as some great wedding photographers (Hello!!), many other wedding professionals enhance your day and add to it to make it even more memorable. The register office in Cardiff City Hall caters for the very smallest to much larger marriage celebrations. The numerous florists, wedding planners, cake makers, and dress shops are among the industry's very best.

LGBTQ+/Gay Weddings in Cardiff
All non-religious wedding venues are welcoming to same-sex wedding couples who wish to marry in Wales's capital city. All the official venues listed below do accept LGBT weddings as is now required by law.
Gay weddings are something of a speciality of mine, and you can find out all about how I approach them here:

I photographed this group shot taken just after Helen and Clare's marriage ceremony on City Hall's grass. It is a perfect space for your posed family portraits.
